The 2021 Haley Christmas Card Newsletter I Never Sent, and Happy New Year!

The Year of Our Lord 2021 has been memorable for the Haley household.  If you are a reader of my blog, you already know all of this except for what happened at the end.  But Christmas cards come to you in one of three ways.

  1. Addressed to you, but only signed at the bottom with the name of your friend, so you can know they are still alive

  2. Addressed to you with a very short personalization, or

  3. Addressed to you, signed at the bottom, and accompanied by a newsletter designed to summarize an entire year, and catch you up.  It is never a short novel.  I will try to do that now, but it’s too late to send out the cards.

In the Beginning (of 2021), we all hoped and prayed that as we left horrible, awful 2020 behind, we could look forward to a better year.  But in so many ways, our collective hopes were dashed, as the devil mounted a skilled and coordinated attack on civilization itself.  I don’t think that’s hyperbole.  The “fundamental change” or “great reset” is a plot by Satan to bring the world into domination by the antichrist in the last days, and it has been marked by great confusion, despair, and death.

I know, that doesn’t sound like the preamble to any of my Christmas card newsletters in the past.  And it would be really awful to leave it like that, wouldn’t it?  So I won’t.

For our family, and for those of us in the Body of Christ, this honest appraisal of the State of the World is not cause for despair, but cause for rejoicing.  Yes, we are in the world as occupational forces, but our citizenship is in Heaven, and our Savior is standing by to redeem and rescue us.

In April of 2021, Eric and I finally became empty nesters, and eventually The Shoe had two guest rooms.  They are still not perfect, but we got a ceiling fan replaced and new curtains installed.  Paint would be nice, and new carpet, but for now, the rooms are comfy enough for grandkids spending the night, holiday guests, and even occasional honeymooners.

We had two more weddings in 2021, both in May. Chris Haley married Kim, and our granddaughter Sarah married Austen.  Sometimes my dad makes appearances at these events and has enjoyed himself immensely.  Our clan does weddings well!

We also had two more babies born in 2021, both in June:  Vivi and Andrew’s baby, Adaline, and our grandson Jay and Mary’s baby, Felix.  The tally:  20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  They are too many now to spoil, but they are so well-loved!

I can’t really summarize 2021 without mentioning that December was Covid Month.  Almost all of us Haley’s and used-to-be Haley’s had the Wuhan flu, in one form or another.  It affected the church, caused a few deaths and near-deaths of beloved friends, hamstrung our business during Christmas rush, closed down other long-time businesses for good, and made a hole in people’s health and personal finances.  But we are still alive and kicking, and the fact that we have beaten Covid in 2021 feels like the end of Peter's battle with Fenris Ulf in Narnia, where Aslan the great lion has to remind him that after the kill, he needs to clean the blood off his sword.

For we did sing The Hallelujah Chorus on Friday night, Christmas Eve, at Calvary Chapel in Lafayette.  We had a small, powerful, battle-hardened army of mostly Covid-Recovered, who stood tall and proclaimed with gusto that the victory belonged to King Jesus, and no weapon formed against us could ever prosper.  Our beloved pastor and his wife made their first post-Covid public appearance there to absorb the atmosphere of Christmas worship.  And they were not disappointed, praise God!

You can't see me because I was directing this victorious Messiah Choir.

During the holidays both of our military families made it here from their faraway stations in Nebraska and New Mexico, occupying both guest rooms.  We told them we didn’t really have a chance to do much cleaning, but we were extremely pleased that by the time they got here, we were over Covid, there was food in the house, the toilets flushed and the water drained, the water could get hot, the furnace kept us warm, the lights turned on and off, and the internet worked.  Sometimes it's those little things that we take for granted that are our biggest blessings.

Playing with Ariabella and Felix was a great highlight of the year.

Cuddling baby heads is one of my favorite pastimes.

I got to sit next to Aria on the way home from the Christmas Eve service, where I dredged up a song from the depths of my memory (thank God for those memories!) and sang “Toot Toot Tootsie, Good-bye” with her.

“What in the world are you singing, Mom?”

“Something Aria’s great grandma used to sing to me.”

Oh, besides Covid, there were more events and complications and setbacks in 2021 than you could shake a stick at (as my daddy used to say), I’m pretty sure I actually lost an important letter from the Department of Revenue that will come back to bite me later.  Our dog Precious is a hopeless drug addict (steroids), but she’s 15 years old and mostly sleeping.  And right now, our van is disabled and not at our house, having lost its transmission (which is why I got to sit next to Aria).

But it sounds like we may have a couple more grandbabies now coming in 2022 and a couple more weddings, if King Jesus tarries. Life goes on, the clan gets bigger and farther away from one another.  It seems inconceivable, but some of them don’t even know each other!

And Jesus gets closer.  It is not hard right now to remember the shameful pullout of our troops in Afghanistan.  It will not be like that when Jesus pulls His ambassadors.  He knows where all of us live and will forget no one.

My prayer is for wellness -- and wholeness -- for your families in 2022.

Father God, we acknowledge our brokenness before You, here at the end of the year.  Many are sick, recovering, exhausted, grieving, and some are near the point of despair.

But we read in Your Word:

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

~John 10:10

We cling to that promise of life.  King Jesus, take our lives and heal the broken pieces and broken bodies, the broken hearts and broken relationships.  Make us well and whole again, as we face 2022 with confidence that You are the giver of abundant life, and it is meant for us.

Happy New Year!

Covid Wars: What Are Our Assets?

Well, we pulled it off on Sunday, the children were excited, and Pastor Joe was pleased with the Christmas program, watching it on the livestream. Peggy made my phone ding during church to tell me! The church was blessed, and the angels in Heaven had to be thinking “How Cute!” as Baby Levi and his parents stole the show. Our purpose was to glorify our God and declare to the world and to the devil that we are victorious in Jesus Christ, Emmanuel.

In other news, we have several folks from our church still on the prayer list, as well as other very close friends, for whom we do battle in prayer. Some have sunken very far before they were healed and pulled out of the jaws of death..

We are in a war. The enemy is the Devil. His minions right now are spreading real life lies (as opposed to the moniker “disinformation”) because he is the Father of Lies.

Jesus had to break that to the Jewish leaders, who had rejected his claim to be the Messiah -- that their father was the devil, but to those who accepted Him, He said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

“We are children of Abraham! We’ve never been in bondage to anyone.”

When you think about that statement, and remember the history of the Jewish people, this sounds like a Jen Psaki moment.

“There is no crisis at the border.” “This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

And Biden has said:

“The United States needs to vaccinate the whole world!”

But hear what the Bible says:

The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

~Proverbs 18:15

Last week, we discussed The Princess Bride, and how Westley, who had been mostly dead all day, asked the questions, in planning an attack on the Castle and the evil Prince Humperdinck:

  1. What are our liabilities?

  2. What are our assets?

And, last week, we covered some of our liabilities in the War Against Covid, which include:

  1. The sneaky nature and great prevalence of the disease itself

  2. People in denial that they have it, who wait too long and spread the disease far and wide

  3. The suppression of life-saving information and demonization of the medicines that work, by the Mainstream Media and Big Tech

  4. Big Pharma’s interest in profits above all

  5. Hospitals that are getting kickbacks from Big Pharma

There is a little mild language in this short video, but it is the testimony of Chris Burgand, who has something to say about Dr. Fauci, and his squelching of the truth about Ivermectin, about which I wrote at length last week. He had to get his Ivermectin from the feed store, but was able to win over Covid, even though he has leukemia.

Ivermectin is the first of our assets in the war against Covid, and I did talk about that first one last week. Here’s a whole page of information on it, with links, graphs, and a 30-page scholarly review:

https://covid19criticalcare.com/ivermectin-in-covid-19/

I know some people have been faced with medical professionals who belittle Ivermectin. One excuse they give is that it is supposed to be used for parasites, not viruses. But you can see from the above that this truly safe and effective wonder drug also has strong anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties. Please read this and inform your doctor if he questions it.

Herd Immunity? Is that an asset?

Let’s talk for a minute about herd immunity. This seems to be a question for which there are only two reasonable answers. That we can achieve it is often just assumed. The two popular methods are:

  1. Everybody gets a Covid shot, and then another, and then another, and then another …, and that will lead to herd immunity.

  2. Everybody gets a case of Covid, acquires antibodies, and then we are immune.

But what about the foundational assumption? Is herd immunity even possible? To paraphrase Westley (back to The Princess Bride):

“Herd immunity? I don’t believe it exists.”

Really! How many people in your long life have you heard say:

“I had a cold last week. Now I shall never have a cold again.”

Hmmmm?

Colds are a type of coronavirus. There has never been a successful vaccination that would prevent any coronavirus. From the beginning, we knew that, yet Big Pharma rushed out “the answer.” Now, we have the Covid shot, which is chock full of very deadly risks and changes a person’s DNA, and we are trying it out on children, even forcing them. Follow the money. Also take a look at this article about the Satanic Roots to Modern Medicine. Did you ever wonder about the snake-slithering-up-the-pole symbol? It’s not identical to the one Moses had.

This is nothing but Hitler and Dr. Mengele all over again. It is significant that the leader of the EU is suggesting that we get rid of the Nuremberg Code, which crystalized the post-World War II thinking that it was inhumane to experiment on people without their consent (among other things). Is it really that outdated, or is it just inconvenient to restrict those who want to vaccinate the whole world?

So, with many people having received the experimental shots, we have not achieved anything close to herd immunity for Covid, which has bred great fear and trembling into those who dwell upon the earth. People get Covid more than once, the shot only helps for a few months, vaxxed people can spread the disease even when they are asymptomatic by shedding spike proteins, and a new study says people can get more than one variant at the same time. Omicron is said to be 70 times more contagious than Covid Classic.

So we cannot count on herd immunity as even a possible future asset. What can we count as an asset?

Hydroxychloroquine.

The main reason for this drug is to get zinc into your cells. It is so safe it is recommended for pregnant and nursing mothers, and it has been FDA-approved for 60 years. It is sold over the counter in many countries with a high level of malaria and most missionaries to those countries regularly carry some in their pockets. I remember President Trump pronouncing this very slowly to get it right, early in 2020. Then, it was either forgotten or maligned, along with the lie that President Trump advised drinking bleach to kill the virus.

Unfortunately, hydroxy is politicized. Big Pharma wants your money! So, a drug that is so cheap and plentiful doesn’t fit into their definition of a high-demand money-maker, and is, in itself, scandalous.

If you cannot get this drug, you can do this: Get tonic water at the grocery store. It’s in the liquor aisle. Tonic water contains quinine, which does the same thing as hydroxychloroquine.

Or you can get:

Quercetin

This is a natural oxidant, which does the same thing as hydroxy. You need to increase absorption of zinc into the cells to increase your immune system. As with the ivermectin, this is used both for prophylaxis and for treatment of Covid. Then, your immune system can do what God intended for it to do – produce its own antibodies.

Zinc.

Bet you knew I was coming to this. Yes, you need zinc. This is a key element to your health puzzle. You may have seen my New Year’s post this year. Eric and I rang in the new year with several vitamin supplements (keep reading … ), a “mixed drink” of tonic water and raspberry herbal tea, and zinc. We found some gummies we really liked, but you know, those are rather expensive for what they are. You don’t really need your meds and supplements to taste fruity!

Vitamin C.

This has been known as a key element in health for a long time, and citrus has always been part of the American diet for the winter. The juicy goodness of oranges and lemons is a showstopper. Whoever it is that fills Christmas stockings at our house has highly favored a large navel orange as the filler of the toe region. And last Friday, we saw a very nice Christmas movie called “Christmas Oranges'' on RedeemTV. We may be hanging oranges on our tree this year.

And yet, even a very large orange every day is not enough to combat Covid. You may have heard that an “overdose” of Vitamin C will cause diarrhea. But your body will use what it needs to function correctly and then dispel the rest. You need to work up to a large amount of this important vitamin and keep it going.

Vitamin D3.

Most people are deficient in this important vitamin. It can be gleaned from sunlight, but during the winter there is less of that, and sometimes it just feels too cold to be outside. So, taking a supplement will help. Cold and flu season, even without Covid, is in the winter, when you need that vitamin the most.

Z-Stack Protocol.

This is a combination supplement for the immune system developed by an Orthodox Jewish doctor, Vladamir Zelenko. You can get this supplement, which includes many of the above elements, by mail order subscription so you’ll have a fresh bottle every month for prophylaxis now, and if you get sick you can just order more if you need it.

His website has this quote:

“Based on my front-line experience, it is essential to start treatment against Covid-19 immediately upon clinical diagnosis of the infection and not to wait for confirmatory testing. There is a very narrow window of opportunity to eliminate the virus before pulmonary complications begin. Delaying treatment is the essence of the problem. My treatment regime is attached and please know that as of today it has saved thousands of patients without serious complications or negative side effects. Hundreds of top doctors across the world have embraced prehospital treatment of Covid-19 in high risk patients.”

Here’s a helpful review.

Or OrthoMune.

This is the combination supplement we have been taking, very similar to Z-Stack and available at our small, local pharmacy. It had everything our doctor wanted us to take in it, so we took twice as much of it as we were for the prophylactic effect, but also had to have more zinc along with that to meet our doctor’s recommendations. This is the easy way to go.

NAC. (N-Acetyl Cysteine)

This is an amino acid (building blocks of protein) that our son Chris took when he got sick. It’s another ingredient in the OrthoMune, and it’s apparently good stuff. Chris was well after increasing this supplement and sleeping a day. It was his second bout with Covid, but he wasn’t even sick long enough to test and confirm that.

Aspirin.

Our Telemed doctor wants us to take this poor much-aligned drug for 30 days, but other protocols put it at 90 days, and sometimes at a lower dose for up to a year. Aspirin was dealt a hard blow in the late 70s and early 80s when a correlation was made between using it for a viral infection, and Reye’s Syndrome in children. Then, nobody took it. It was removed from pain reliever-in-chief status to a lowly blood thinner.

But it’s precisely the blood thinner function that gives it importance in the fight against Covid. The disease can cause blood clots, as I mentioned last week. I’ve seen one. That can mean strokes, heart attacks, and many other complications, so even if you have fought off the Covid, you can still suffer from the clots later. Take the aspirin!

Antibiotics.

Your doctor is very likely to prescribe an antibiotic. Most of the time, it’s a Z-Pack (azithromycin). Mine was a doxycycline that I took twice a day, but I had to work around any probiotics (like my protein shakes) and any vitamins and supplements. The “pro’s” and the “anti’s” had to be spaced 4 hours apart. Antibiotics will work to keep your infection level down, and turn that which comes out of your nose from sickly green to clear again.

Guaifenesin.

This is found in Robitussin and Mucinex. We use the generic or store brand for Mucinex DM. The DM is important because it’s a cough suppressant. Why would you want a cough suppressant if you’re trying to cough phlegm out of your lungs? Because you would want to suppress your unnecessary coughing and spare your ribs. If you use the Maximum Strength, you can take one every 12 hours. If you don’t, you’ll have to do it more often and then you’ll have a harder time keeping up with where you are on your schedule.

Be sure you drink at least 8 cups of water a day. That goes a long way towards keeping your lungs clear, and you really need to do that, to prevent Covid pneumonia. That’s when it gets dangerous.

Monoclonal Antibodies.

I mentioned this last week. I was able to get this important treatment free last week. It is what kept President Trump alive and out of Walter Reed Hospital after a tough weekend, when we were all praying hard for God to spare him.

The various monoclonal antibody concoctions are Emergency Use Authorization early treatment drugs, and I did get to read the risk sheet before I signed it. This drug, particularly Regeneron by Eli Lilly, is being stockpiled by the Federal Government and then distributed to states. Unfortunately, the Democrats have begun to deny certain red states like Texas and Florida the amounts they wanted, so they could send a “fair share” to blue states where they don’t even really want any of it. It’s politics again.

Hospitals are also withholding it, denying it, or even worse, quietly preferring to give it only to those who’ve had the Covid shot. If they “schedule” the antibodies and it’s late in a patient's illness (after about the tenth day), then they can blame the patient if it doesn’t work, for “waiting too long.” That has happened twice in my family and to others I love, and it burns me up …

The risk sheet included the possibility that your body may have a harder time making its own antibodies later. That risk still hasn’t been studied enough, so it is still only a possibility, but I determined that I wanted to take the risk and made the choice. (I couldn’t ask Eric anyway, since my phone was dead.)

Steroids.

I was given steroids along with the antibodies. Steroids like prednisone are helpful but they don’t seem to be prescribed all the time. Eric was on prednisone for his hearing loss before he got sick, so that was rather handy. But then he found out this week that it could have been Covid that caused the hearing loss -- a little known early symptom is loss of hearing in just one ear!

Finally, a word about Remdesivir.

This is a very dangerous drug and not a good idea. Many people have died from renal failure from this treatment, including a very good longtime friend. The renal failure causes fluid buildup in the lungs and the patient dies from drowning. It is tallied by the hospital as a “Covid death,” when in reality, that is a drug death. It was banned in Africa long ago as a treatment for Ebola because so many people died in the trials. New studies are showing that as many as 50% of those taking this drug will die soon thereafter, but it is pushed in the hospitals because it’s a money-maker. Please don’t take this. I cannot emphasize this enough.

Oxygen.

This is not a medicine, but it is something we’ve all needed since the day we were born (and actually before, through our umbilical cord). If your blood oxygen saturation level dips under 88, that is not good. Bill from Leonard’s said that he and his wife had to take something to “open up their lungs.” There are various inhalers and substances that are “vaped” with a nebulizer, and a prescription from your doctor will help you breathe again.

We found this in our attic, from the Lisa and Emily era in the early 80s, along with a very old and expired small bottle of Albuterol. These girls had asthma and took regular breathing treatments to keep from getting frequent bronchitis. We kept the air compressor unit because it was a sturdy machine that still worked, and why throw it out just because the handle had broken off? We offered this older model to people who needed it, but nobody took us up on it for some reason, preferring something that was less than 40 years old instead.

Westley:  “Why didn’t you count that among our assets?”

If you are having a hard time getting enough oxygen, you may need to be on supplemental oxygen at a hospital and monitored. Hopefully, the methods above will prevent you from getting to that point. Also, you might want to take off your mask. We were not created to breathe our own carbon dioxide – plants were!

But the ventilator is the last possible resort. Eric used to work in intensive care, and all the talk in the spring of 2020 about ventilators, and the “War Heroes” who retrofitted their factories to churn out ventilators was puzzling to him. He says being intubated is not pleasant, and only a small percentage of those on ventilators for more than about two or three days can ever be successfully weaned. It has always been that way and every ICU nurse knows it.

How long will you be protected by your antibodies? Is that an asset?

People are getting the disease a second time, “vaxxed” or “unvaxxed,” including a good friend who is working for a government contractor. Covid is not fun, and it is a disruption from our work, our economy, our family, our church, and our way of life. It raises a lot of controversy among the best of friends.

Antibodies do provide strong protection. However, there are those who mistakenly believe their antibodies will protect them forever. That may not be true. If it were true, then “herd immunity” could actually happen. But with the mutations and variants constantly coming out, Covid looks like a forever illness. In that case, we need to be armed with a strong, God-given immune system and the information we need to make healthy choices. Please don’t take the shot because you’ve had Covid and don’t want to get it again. The shot will make matters worse. Even the sweet new friend I met last week knew that, advising me to run if someone came at me with a needle.

At present, it appears that acquired immunity from having the disease may only last about 8-12 months.

How Much? What are the dosages?

You really need to consult an enlightened doctor. I could tell you how much my Telemed doctor prescribed, but yours may want you to do something different, perhaps based on your weight or some other underlying conditions. Eric had a Z-Pack, I had Doxycycline. I’m taking aspirin, but it hurts Eric’s stomach. You may or may not need an inhaler or a nebulizer, or nausea meds. Please see the list of resources at the end of this post.

Also, see The Dr. Ardis Show – because he is a doctor! And yes, his protocol includes other supplements that are also helpful in increasing your immune system. Yes, I already linked to his website above. Did you find it?

And then there are B Complex vitamins, an iodine or hydrogen peroxide mouthwash, vitamin E, warm lemonade, sleeping on your stomach, back massage, Nyquil and Dayquil, chicken soup, … or tomato soup and oyster crackers. All are helpful, but we all need to thoughtfully make our own medical decisions. We are unique individuals, and there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Be wise, and look for information on Rumble, not from the mouth of Dr. Fauci.

The Battle

Now that we know our liabilities and our assets, we must use them to the best of our ability. Make a plan. Get started on the vitamins and zinc now. Know where your local independent compounding pharmacy is, that will fill a doctor’s prescription without judging you.

We are engaged in a war in the Heavenlies: Satan and his fallen angels against the Savior Jesus Christ and his Heavenly hosts. Satan wants ownership of your soul. And if he can’t get that, he can lie, cheat, frighten you, and steal your joy and your hope – if you let him. But the Church of Jesus Christ has power over sin and death and hell through our Lord.

The enemy and the war are real, and sometimes the carnage of war is distressing. There are casualties. But we know the end of the story: Jesus wins! Babylon the Great falls. There is no trap, curse, weapon, disease, or lie that can win against the Lord of Lords and King of Kings and against His Church. The gates of hell cannot prevail, and none of Jesus’ soldiers will die before it is their time. On this, you and I can be confident.

We can fight this battle by prayer, our most serious and effective asset, and by keeping the joy of the Lord in our hearts and a song on our lips. Here’s a good song about our Good God for you,by David Crowder.

Remember that praises to God were a key element in the Wars of the Israelites. Remember how the loud shout caused the walls of Jericho to come crashing down? Remember how Joshua arranged the army with singers and shofar players in the front lines?

Tonight, we should be welcoming both our son David and our grandson Jay to our home along with their wives and babies. Being Covid Recovered, we are safer than others and less of a risk for our military men and their families. Christmas is coming up – it hardly seems possible that we’re this close!

God willing, and it looks like He is, the Haley Family will be singing “The Hallelujah Chorus” on Christmas Eve as we have every year for over 35 years. It looks like we’ll have about a dozen of us after all! We will do battle with the breath God has breathed into our lungs, and loudly proclaim that:

The kingdom of this world is become

The Kingdom of Our Lord, and of His Christ, and of His Christ

And He shall reign forever and ever.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! The battle belongs to Him! And He will come for us!

Covid Wars -- What Are Our Liabilities?

Some quick updates:

My dad says he’s fine, but still has no taste and smell.

Many in our family and in our business are still sick or recovering, but mostly recovering.

Our beloved Pastor Joe and his wife Peg are both back home, and Pastor Joe wasn’t even followed home by an oxygen tank! The announcement filled our church with elation, and I have no doubt he was watching the church livestream on Sunday or that he will watch the replay, wishing he could be among us. We’re still praying for complete healing of his lungs, and that he’ll get his speaking voice back quickly, with full strength.

There are still people falling sick, still people in the hospital. But when you are asked, “So where did you get the virus?” the correct response is, “Who knows? The virus is everywhere.” And it is.

Eric and I were back in church on Sunday, victorious and full of energy. I told everybody in an announcement that we are having a Christmas program of some kind next Sunday, with whatever able-bodied participants we can find. The Covid-recovered are our best bet, and the number of participants will be impossible to predict, but I think we’ll have enough to do it. The reaction from the church was priceless. The Devil can’t win this one – we will react to the attack with praise to our God! The children are ready to do battle with their lungs, whether or not they can carry a tune in a bucket.

Next, you should know that Monday morning, after reaching for an itchy sensation in the palm of my right hand, I noticed a lump. It was a small blood clot – just like one my friend Angi told me about on Sunday, that had appeared on her palm after she had Covid in August.

To make a long story short, I’ll just say that by 12:30, I was on my way to an urgent care facility in Lafayette. I had experienced too many frustrations with the Lafayette emergency rooms and thought to get a better response with urgent care.

I had a conversation with God on the way. It went like this:

“Father, remember when I prayed this morning about ‘Whatever happens, we will praise Your Name and give You the glory?’ Remember, I said something like, ‘Whether we live or die, we belong to You and we are comfortable with that’?

“Well, I meant it and I’m not taking it back. But it was only a couple hours later that I got this blood clot. Now I know this is a test. Blood clots can move and that pharmacist I spoke with said they can go into your brain and cause a stroke, or into your heart and cause a heart attack. And she said if my blood vessel bursts, I could lose the use of my hand, or if I wait too long it might have to be amputated.

“Now, I’m not crying like Hezekiah, because I’m not in love with this place. You know I’ve been praying that you will come quickly and take us home. But I made a promise to the church yesterday, and to those little kids in the Sunday School. So for their sake, I pray that You will dissolve this clot and completely heal me. And besides, You didn’t tell me it’s my time yet, so I’m going to believe it’s not. I’m going to be fighting this, and fighting for others who need me.”

The clot, still on my hand when I arrived at the urgent care facility, was gone except for about a one-inch long bruise by the time the doctor saw me. She did send me over to a radiologist to have a scan taken. There, I found the reason I had been sent to Lafayette – a sweet woman about my size from India, who knew enough to understand the great fraud being foisted upon the whole world, but not even as much as what I wrote about in my last post. I made a new friend and left for home with a big smile and a “Thank You, Jesus, for the Divine Appointment.”

The Princess Bride

This has probably already been done in many contexts, but I will continue with my examples from The Princess Bride. This brilliant classic movie has been memorized by several of our kids and used in literary allusions in the Haley Household constantly since it was first produced, so it is very appropriate here.

Last week I spoke of ROUS’s – the Rodents of Unusual Size. That had to do with Covid starting off like a tiny, cute “pocket pet” mouse and ending up as a roaring enemy. The problem with the ROUS’s in the movie is that our hero, Westley, is trying to persuade Buttercup that the Fire Swamp is safe for her, so even though he catches glimpses of the enemy rodents, he doesn’t tell Buttercup, and the famous line is:

“The Rodents of Unusual Size? I don’t believe they exist.”

This is followed immediately by an attack from behind, where Buttercup stands helplessly by and watches her True Love battle the brute himself.

What does this show us? Do comforting words help to make scary enemies go away, or do they just catch us by surprise? Obviously, it’s the latter. If we are going to do battle, we need a true assessment of the situation, and then, we need to fight!

What army goes out to fight against the enemy, with the scout coming back after a reconnaissance mission only to tell them soothingly, “Oh it’s okay – the enemy force isn’t that big!” If it is, the army needs to know about it, and be prepared! In fact, in 1 Kings 22 and 2 Chronicles 18, when The Lord wanted to persuade evil King Ahab to go to battle against Syria so that he would be killed in battle, a lying spirit volunteered to make all his prophets give the King assurances that he would win a great victory. Ahab would not listen to the one prophet who told the truth, and sure enough, he was killed in the battle.

No, you will not have a happy life by believing a lie, nor by not paying attention. You will only be unprepared.

Next quote from Westley, to the evil Six-Fingered Man:

“We are men of action. Lies do not become us.”

Last week, we had our hands full. As soon as we got our thinking abilities back, we set to work. We had to protect our family, protect our business, and protect our church. We did battle on their behalf, in prayer, practical help, and with the best advice we could give them. For those who could not think because of the disease, we understood, and helped with decision making. For those who were weepy or anxious or crabby, we understood, and we forgave. Shortness of breath is often accompanied by shortness of temper. We had been there and done that ourselves.

But the Truth is valuable. You cannot do battle without all the facts.

When Westley swallows a “miracle pill,” he comes back full of energy from being “mostly dead all day,” ready to take on all his enemies at once.

Then he asks why he can’t move his arms – they weren’t useful yet. But, he could use his brain.

He asks two questions:

  1. What are our liabilities?

  2. What are our assets?

I’ll only be able to cover the first question today, but let’s take a look at the enemy we must fight -- our liabilities -- and only one of our major assets. Next week, I’ll cover the other assets in greater detail.

What are our liabilities?

The truth about our liabilities is that all counties in Indiana are in the red zone for Covid right now. Also, all counties in our surrounding states are in the red zone for Covid. There are people who have been given the Covid shot, who are shedding spike proteins. This means they are contagious to those around them, whether or not those people have had the shot. People do not know they are contagious, as mentioned in my last post, because this is the “cold and flu season,” and they assume their sniffle is a cold. So, it is very easy to catch this potentially dangerous disease, and also to feel guilty about it if you think someone got it from you when you didn’t know.

The other truth about our liabilities is that all it takes for a doctor or hospital to “drink the Kool-Aid,” as my friend Angi put it, is to read JAMA – the Journal of the American Medical Association. It only contains the “narrative” now, and that is dangerous.  Outstanding medical personnel have been fired everywhere because of their refusal to take the shot and go against the unconstitutional mandates from Joe Dictator Biden, creating personnel shortages (duh!) and causing chaos.

Joe Rogan is a broadcaster for UFC (boxing, for you uninitiated non-sports fans!) with a popular podcast, who was highly criticized because he had been “spreading misinformation” about treatments like Ivermectin. Basically, he had done his homework, and when he contracted Covid in October, he knew what to do. It was not “the narrative” speaking – it was the truth.

Then recently, the head of the UFC, Dana White, also got Covid, even though he had been compliant in taking the Covid shot. But he knew what to do: he called Joe Rogan. Here’s what he said:

“Listen, I’m vaccinated,” White said. “It’s not like I’m some crazy anti-vax conspiracy theorist or some of that stuff but Rogan is a very brilliant guy. Very smart guy who talks to the best and the brightest out there and I’m not a believer in the narrative. But at the end of the day, this is a free country. Cause what happens when you get this stuff, they tell you stay home for the next 10 days until you don’t test positive. That doesn’t seem smart to me. Just like when we went through COVID, I believe in finding solutions to problems and answers.”

What are our assets?

This is a picture of the list I was making a week ago when I fainted at the kitchen counter, though now it’s a little stained up from being in the kitchen all this time. This was what my doctor had prescribed for me, and I had to figure out how to fit it into a workable schedule.  I show you this, not because this is how much of everything you should take, but because it speaks of “assets” loud and clear. As President Trump made clear to us from the beginning, there are good, useful therapeutics available, and we need to use them.

Ivermectin

This is the key therapeutic right now, along with hydroxychloroquine. I mentioned these two last week, but it is important to know what to do with them.

There are doctors who have been fired or had their medical licenses threatened for using Ivermectin to battle Covid, and most hospitals refuse to touch it. It became politicized because it is relatively inexpensive compared to the Emergency Use Authorization drugs Big Pharma wants to sell. The hospitals get kickbacks from using those expensive drugs and they want those given to the patients as much as possible.

As a result, people have been gaslighted for suggesting Ivermectin can cure Covid. It is mocked and called “horse de-wormer.” Every time it is mentioned on Facebook, the “Fact Checkers'' will slap a warning label on your post and talk about how using it for Covid is dangerous. Today’s news is that a federal court ordered a hospital to allow a family to try Ivermectin for their dying mother or pay $10,000 per day fines, also allowing the family a police escort into the hospital if needed. It shouldn’t be this hard!

Ivermectin is not dangerous. This drug is safe and effective, and it has been approved by the FDA for a variety of maladies for a number of years, whereas the other drugs are at best not completely tested. Yes, it was first used for animals, but human applications followed shortly thereafter and its inventors were awarded a Nobel Prize in 2015.

Ivermectin is effective both for prophylactic use (prevention) and therapeutic use (treatment). The dosages are different, as you would expect. You do have to take more of it to kill viruses that have been multiplying in your body.  It is prescribed for therapeutic use according to a patient’s height and weight, and it is very important to get that dosage information before starting your course.

When you find a good doctor – and sometimes you have one close at hand! – who will write you a prescription for this good drug, you must send that script to a pharmacy that will fill it without a diagnostic code. Many pharmacies, upon hearing that it’s for Covid, even though it is prescribed by a real doctor, will refuse to fill it. This includes pretty much all of the chain stores like CVS and Walgreen’s.

Yes, there are some people who have been desperate enough to find Ivermectin at a Rural King, where it is easily accessible for your animals. But there are no dosages for humans on the package, so it’s all guesswork, and many people have not taken enough of it to help. Some farm stores have even taken it off the shelf. You must go to a friendly doctor and a friendly pharmacist, usually a small family-owned store. It is cheaper to find a pharmacy that does its own compounding. No insurance company is going to cover it, but you need this.

See the end of my post from last week for some resources to find friendly doctors and pharmacists to help you.

One more thought. The FDA has published disclaimers saying they have not approved the off-label drug Ivermectin to “cure Covid.” Well, if you have an invading army ready to descend upon you, and all you have on hand are hunting rifles, will you wring your hands in despair because you have no AK-47s?

As you can see, the discussion of our first asset has liabilities built into it. The urgent care doctor asked me what I had taken for Covid and I told her the list, starting with the Ivermectin.

“Oh that! Well, that “Invermectin” (sic) stuff probably didn’t help any, but I’m sure the other things you took were what made the difference.”

Considering this medical professional could not even pronounce the name of this wonder drug and all my friends can, what does that tell you about the medical establishment right now?

“Don’t argue with the doctor,” my new friend had said.

So I didn’t. I just praised God that I had been healed. The ultrasound revealed no blood clots in my neck or arm. The Holy Spirit had zapped it for me!

I must continue the discussion of our assets next week, so stay tuned.

Here’s your verse for the day. Eric and I read it this morning and the song we know that goes with it has been stuck in our heads all day:

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.”

~Proverbs 18:10

Doesn’t that sound like a powerful asset?

“Lord and Father, Your Name is great and strong, and we pray your Name over all Your people who are fighting battles of various kinds today.  Safety, true safety, is in You, and always will be.  We pray for Your safety and protection over our pastors and the leadership of the churches of Jesus Christ. We thank you that Pastor Joe and Peggy are home now, without any meds or oxygen!  Please continue to heal them and others, and give us the strength to continue to do battle against the enemy forces with our prayer, our praise, and our total trust and reliance in You.”
